How to Make a Resume for Freshers in India

A good fresher resume shows what you can contribute, even if you have not had a full-time job yet. Keep it clear, relevant and honest, and make it easy for a recruiter to find your qualifications.

1. Start with your contact details

Include your name, phone number, professional email address and city. Add a LinkedIn profile or portfolio link if it is current and relevant.

You generally do not need to include sensitive personal details such as identification numbers or your full home address.

2. Write a short career objective

Use two or three sentences to describe the role you want, your relevant strengths and what you hope to contribute. Avoid generic claims that could describe any applicant.

For example, a computer science graduate applying for a junior developer role could mention relevant programming languages, a project and an interest in building reliable software.

3. Put education in a clear format

List your degree or qualification, institution, graduation year and relevant marks or grade if you want to include them. Recent graduates can place education near the top of the resume.

4. Show skills with evidence

Choose skills relevant to the job description. Instead of listing every tool you have heard of, focus on those you can explain or demonstrate in an interview.

Support technical and practical skills with academic projects, coursework, volunteering, internships or other genuine experience.

5. Include projects and internships

For each relevant project, explain its purpose, your contribution, the tools you used and the outcome. Link to a working demo or code repository when appropriate.

If you completed an internship, describe your responsibilities and achievements accurately. Never invent experience, employers or results.

6. Keep the layout easy to scan

Use clear section headings, consistent spacing and readable fonts. For many freshers, one page is enough, but relevant content matters more than forcing an arbitrary page limit.

Use a simple layout and familiar section names. Follow the employer's file-format instructions, and check that the exported PDF has selectable text and no clipped content.

7. Tailor the resume to each application

Read the job description and prioritize the qualifications you genuinely have that match it. Use relevant terminology naturally rather than stuffing the resume with keywords.

Before applying, check spelling, dates, links and contact details. Ask someone to review it if possible.

Fresher resume checklist

Before sending your resume, confirm that your contact details are correct, education is accurate, projects are explained clearly, formatting is consistent and every claim is truthful.
